Congratulations to Jose Salmeron and Josh Talik, winners of our Install Job of the Week for the week of 11/14/11. Jose installed a new modulating, variable speed gas furnace and a 4″ media filter at the Welch residence in Everett, WA. Jose and Josh replaced an existing standard efficiency furnace that had significant issues with the design and construction of the return plenum and basecan.

Jose and Josh installed a new, modulating, variable speed furnace to improve comfort and energy efficiency. They also installed a 4″ media filter, which will dramatically reduce dust and other large particles from the air. Gas piping was moved to fit the new installation. They also replaced the existing single-wall vent with double walled vent to meet current code requirements.

Most importantly, Jose and Josh built a new sheet-metal liner for the return plenum, which was never lined. This plenum was bare, crumbling concrete and dirt – which could create serious issues with indoor air quality, and equipment life. they sealed the plenum, and installed a new, insulated basecan. They also built proper transitions, and ensured they were all sealed so their new system will deliver maximum efficiency, comfort, and will reduce problems with indoor air quality.
