If you are thinking about getting a generator after the recent power outages, you have a lot of choices to make:

  • Portable?
  • Permanent Stand-By?
  • Gas, Natural Gas or Propane?
  • How many kW (kilowatts)?
  • What Brand is Best?
  • Etc.

We've placed some short videos from Kohler and home improvement expert Ed Del Grande on our YouTube Channel. These videos provide helpful information on generators, so you can decide what kind of generator is right for you. These videos explain the pros and cons or portable and stand-by generators, explain how they work, and provide some basic information on what features to look for in a quality generator.

As if the snow wasn't bad enough, hundreds of thousands of people in the Puget Sound are now without power due to downed trees and power lines. Losing power for any length of time may not just be a nuisance, it can be a real problem:

  • Furnaces can’t heat your home
  • Food spoils in warm refrigerators and freezers
  • Cordless phones stop working, and cell phones lose their charge
  • Homes become dark and dangerous
  • Medical equipment may not function
  • Hot water can become a lost luxury and cooking may be impossible

Beyond this, home offices are shuttered, reducing income, sleep is lost, and incidents of illness, injury, theft and vandalism may increase.

If your power is out, we hope that it will be restored quickly. But even if it is, there are some things you need to know:

There is a saying that "no good deed goes unpunished". In an effort to provide the best service possible to our customers, we upgraded the phone lines into our office the other week. This resulted in a change in the routing ID used by all phone companies to locate us based on our phone number. Unfortunately, not all carriers update this registry regularly, and as a result, we missed hundreds of your calls over the past two weeks.

Some of you encountered busy signals, others just dead air. In any case, the problem has been fixed, and our phone lines are all up and running now. You can reach us toll-free at 800-352-1818, at 425-493-5353, or on any of our other local numbers. If you do have a problem, please keep trying - and then let us know about it so we can work with our phone provider to correct the issue.

Thank you for your patience during this process, and for your continued support.
