We understand the importance of keeping plumbing fixtures, faucets, pipes and more in top shape.

Below you’ll find the second part of a convenient a relatively quick Spring plumbing checklist. For help with any of these items, or anything related to your home plumbing needs, don’t hesitate to contact BelRed so we can put you in touch with one of our knowledgeable, expert plumbers. Enjoy!

  • Carefully drain several gallons of water from your water heater. This will flush out any sediment that could cause corrosion inside your tank and its pipes. Spring is also a great time to start evaluating your water heater needs for the year ahead. If your tank is old and inefficient, you may want to think about replacement.
  • Check toilets for hidden leaks. If you drop a few drops of food coloring to the water, you’ll quickly be able to identify problems areas if leaks exist. Seal these leaks or replace necessary parts.
  • Don’t forget about your exterior plumbing. Check all outside faucets, sprinkler lines and other water uses or features. You likely haven’t used water outside since the fall, so checking for properly working faucets, hoses and spouts is necessary to ensure freezing temperatures didn’t damage them.
  • If you live in an area with a sewer system, make sure your sewage backflow valve is working properly. If you don’t have one installed, think about doing so now.
  • Call in the reinforcements. For larger plumbing problems or for help with any problems you uncovered while making your way through this checklist, don’t forget that we’re here to help. Call us today.
